About Us.
Emma Rose Hardwoods was started with a fascination and respect for Mother Nature's work which is only matched by our desire to see it preserved.
For centuries the giant trees of the Northeast were ultimately transformed into the backbone of America’s infrastructure. As a result, 98% of "old-growth" trees are gone. Farmhouses, barns, charcoal, ships, factory and city construction decimated the forests of Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, and Virginia. Today, the true hardwood relics of the Northeast forest are very few and far between.
As old growth trees become more scarce the unmatched and highly desirable figure, tight growth rings, curl, and quilting is becoming more valued. At Emma Rose Hardwoods we work to preserve all the characteristics of these legendary trees.
Our drying process.
Shelter, shade-cloth, and time preserve our slabs forever. Recycled railroad ties are used for our cross supports. Our Air-O-Flow drying sticks are made from Brazilian hardwood. Lastly, green nylon banding is placed every 4 feet immediately after the log is cut. The nylon banding is capable of applying 1500lbs of pressure which helps to ensure a straight and true final product.
